rising from the ashes:
the original 7,000sf southwest-style home on this lot was lost to the witch creek fire. starting from the ground up, we embarked on a journey of redesign and construction, crafting a brand-new dwelling for our clients with a contemporary touch. every facet of this new home boasts bespoke elements and carefully curated materials. with details like the concealed zebra wood bar and floating glass stair railings to the meticulously crafted wine cellar, cinema-themed movie room, and sprawling indoor/outdoor living and dining space— the new home is a haven for entertainers. yet, beyond these details, what resonates most is the poignant reminder we’ve all been gifted: that beauty can emerge from even the most challenging circumstances, eternally enduring and inspiring.
My role in this project extended beyond architecture to include:
Collaborating with the insurance company to navigate the complexities of the claim.
Preparing for and participating in mediation, including a detailed presentation on behalf of our clients.
Providing emotional support during an incredibly challenging time, becoming a trusted partner and friend.
Helping to design a home that honored their story, including creating a special place for the one surviving object: a Native American sculpture of The Story Teller.
The result was a home that not only replaced what was lost but also celebrated resilience and renewal. The relationship I built with our clients became so close that they attended my wedding, a testament to the care and connection I bring to every project.
